We can recommend overnight accommodation within walking distance of the workshop if required. You'll be supplied with a bow stave of your timber choice and will be taught :-
- The techniques of shaping & tillering
- How to fit and shape horn nocks
- How to make a Flemish string
- How to fit a leather grip
- How to shoot the finished bow you have just made!

What a fantastic 48 hours! From the moment we arrived Lee and Ryan welcomed us with a hot mug of tea and a chat before we began in earnest on what was to be a very thorough and rewarding two days culminating in both of us returning home with a very professionally finished and personalized long bow. Everything about the course and our visit was excellent. Lee was very thorough and patient,every stage of the process was explained and shown by example. We recommend this course for everyone of all levels of ability.

I was on the course with two others and can definitely say that it was two of the most fun and rewarding days of my life. The bow turned out fantastic and having never shot a longbow before and am very excited to start. Having only shot compound and recurve and never really seeing a longbow up close before I was a little hesitant, but throughout the course they were both extremely helpful and kept an eye on us all equally making sure we were all at roughly the same stage, they kept us provided with as much tea and coffee as we could drink and were all round excellent tutors and hosts. The first day for us was shorter than the second but depending on how things go I can see it going either way. The first day was the most fun for me as I liked using the hand tools to shape the bow. The second day was a lot of power tools which I wasn't very good at, but with their help brought it to a good finish. The rest of the second day was getting the horns ready and then putting the finishing touches onto the bow such as the handle string and naming the bow. Highly recommend for anyone that wants to start or already uses a longbow.

Just completed the bow making course with Lee and Ryan. What a great 2 days.I have never made anything out of wood before, so I was a bit worried about how it would turn out. But there was no need to worry, the tuition and the help provided was excellent. I walked away with a new bow made by me and a lot of knowledge about bow making. The bow shoots fast and smooth. I would recommend this course to all archers new or old. (I may be back for another bow)

I would highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to make their own longbow. Lee and Ian provide brilliant tuition and guide you through the process with clear instruction, support and advice at every stage of the build. Tea and coffee is kept flowing all day (which is great). It was extremely satisfying to leave at the end with a bow that matched my requirements and looked fantastic as well. You can buy longbow but until you have made one yourself you really do not understand the bow makers art. I had a glimpse of it for a couple of days and can now appreciate the skill and care that is needed.
